Our School Day

Times of the School Day: Stoke Goldington Church of England First School opens its doors at 8:45am when parents are invited in to settle their child at one of the morning activities.  Parents are welcome to chat with staff if there are questions or concerns; however, we do request that you make an appointment should you require more time.

  • Registration is at 8:55am and lessons start promptly at 9:00am.
  • The end of the morning session is at 12.00 when the children have their lunch (see Free School Meals).
  • The afternoon session begins at 1.00 pm and school closes at 3.00 pm.

Collecting Your Child from School: Please try to collect your child promptly from school. Young children can become upset if everyone has gone home and they have not been collected. In an emergency please try to telephone school then we are able to reassure your child and explain what is happening.

If someone else is collecting your child please let us know and then we can ensure their safety.

Playtime & Snack: There is a morning break of 10 minutes duration, when children will be offered a piece of fruit. Milk is available for the children, but this must be organised by parents via 'Cool Milk' https://www.coolmilk.com/index.php?q=node/82 School milk is excellent as a mid-morning drink and provides a nutritional boost.

Keeping Hydrated: We provide each child with a school water bottle to enable them to keep hydrated and thereby helping them to concentrate and learn. Ready filled water bottles should be brought to school each day. Additonal water bottles can be purchased from the school office at £1.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship is a special time where we show reverence to God. It involves members of our school coming together and participating in an assembly based on the teachings of Christ and traditions of the Christian Church.

Collective Worship is a period of calm reflection, where children are quiet and thoughtful and participate in prayer and hymns. We encourage parents and friends to attend special assemblies.

We expect all children to attend assembly. However, any parent can request permission for their child to be excused from attending Collective Worship and the school will make alternative arrangements for the supervision of the child during the period concerned.

Physical Education

Please ensure that your child brings their PE kit to school each Monday and that it is kept in school all week. Parents are welcome to take the kit home over the weekend so that it can be laundered.

Whenever possible the children will go outside for PE lessons. Please ensure your child has suitable footwear and warm PE kit available at all times.
